Production capacity and ideology of expansion at Efficient Engineering
Efficient Engineering is recognised as a preferred supplier to numerous blue chip OEMs in the local and international mining, material handling and engineering industries. The 12 500 m2 combined facilities - which are currently situated on three separate sites, with an additional two manufacturing facilities due for completion by first Quarter of 2012 - currently boast a production throughput of up to 700 tonnes of fabricated steelwork per month.
With bay widths of 22 m, combined with crane heights of 14 m and crane capacity of 100 tonnes, Efficient Engineering is the one of the only manufacturers in Africa capable of undertaking large scale production tasks, from concept to completion, entirely in-house.
Phase I of Efficient Engineering’s Elandsfontein headquarters houses the company’s office facilities, in addition to a 1 200 m2 machine shop, which services the company’s fabrication capacities. Phase II is a 4 200 m2 fabrication facility that holds a 1 250 ton CNC hydraulic press brake. Phase III is a 2 000 m2 facility dedicated to sheet metal fabrication, and offers services which include cutting and bending.
Efficient Engineering also boasts two 50 ton cranes, each with 25 ton auxiliary hoists, six 32 ton cranes - four of which have 15 ton auxiliary hoists, four 20 ton cranes, two 15 ton cranes and two 10 ton cranes. A total of 26 qualified welders, capable of welding in G1, G2 and G3 positions in both Co2 and Flux Core (FCAW), currently operate two submerged ARC continuous welding machines, 30 MIG welding machines and 10 inverters.
All machines incorporate the latest technologies and customisation to facilitate higher efficiencies in production cycles and ensure world-class quality workmanship, which is the cornerstone of Efficient Engineering’s business offering.
Efficient Engineering also houses two spray booth facilities of 500 m2 and 400 m2 respectively, in addition to a 500 m2 shot blasting area. This superior production capacity sets Efficient Engineering apart from the competition, as the company is able to act as a one-stop-shop for all its industrial clients.
Efficient Engineering has identified the need to diversify its offering, with products that include modular and non-modular electrical substations for mining operations, and PV boxes for processing energy generated in photovoltaic applications.
Efficient Engineering also prides itself on the calibre of its production staff, who all play a vital role in moving the company forward in the future. Efficient Engineering places a high priority on ensuring that the best people are recruited and retained in their positions, as these skills are essential in maintaining the ISO 9001:2008 certified output that our customers are accustomed to.
